George Clooney to Receive Golden Globes Lifetime Achievement Award

George Clooney will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the 2015 Golden Globes, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced on Monday.

Clooney has been nominated for a 13 Golden Globe awards during his long career. He’s won three times for his acting, for O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Syriana, and The Descendants.

Clooney also owns a Golden Globe as co-producer of best picture winner Argo.

The Golden Globes will take place on January 11, 2015.

Cecily Strong Replaced on SNL’s Weekend Update

NBC announced that former SNL writer Michael Che will fill Strong’s anchor seat, joining Colin Jost when the new season begins Sept. 27. Strong turned to Instagram post, ”I don’t see this as me leaving update, just as me being on update in a looser, goofier way that is a lot more fun for me and in a way I think I’m better at. And now I get to do features with the very funny and wonderful Michael Che!”

She adds, “No point in being angry or sad for me for something I’m genuinely happy about!”

Chris Pratt will host the 40th-season premiere of SNL, with musical guest Ariana Grande.

The Stache Is Back Baby!

Its been 13 years since Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek shaved off a mustache he wore for 30 years. But now the stache is back baby.  When fans tune into the premiere of the syndicated game show’s new season they’ll see a little bit of the old Trebek.

“In 2001, I shaved my mustache on a whim,” Trebek told People magazine. “This year I had a two-and-a-half-month period where we were not taping a show, so I grew it back on another whim. I like to keep my life simple.”

The new season of Jeopardy! begins Monday, Sept. 15.  Check local listings.

Actor Richard Kiel Dies at 74

Actor Richard Kiel, who starred in two James Bond films as the steel-toothed villain Jaws, died Wednesday. He was 74.

The 7-foot-2-inch actor was best known for playing the Bond villain in 1977′s The Spy Who Loved Me and 1979′s Moonraker, but a new generation got to know Kiel from his role in 1996′s Happy Gilmore.

His representative called him “a giant actor, a giant man, a giant friend.”

“He was very loyal as we had a thirty-five year client and friend relationship,” his representative  news outlets. “He was a wonderful husband and great father. Richard lived life to the fullest, and I will miss him. A show business giant has left the stage. RIP dear friend.”

Sara Gilbert and Wife Expecting a Baby

The Talk host Sara Gilbert and her new bride Linda Perry are expecting a baby. Gilbert, 39, is pregnant.  Gilbert, who married Perry in March, announced the news on her show Tuesday.

“BIG BABY NEWS! Sending congratulations & love to @THEsaragilbert!!!! #TheTalk,” the show tweeted after the news, showing a picture of the ladies on the panel dancing with joy.

The actress revealed the news after she failed to follow through with her “Facing Your Fears” challenge of lying on a bed of nails.

“I actually can’t do it because I’m pregnant,” she said.

This will be the third child for Gilbert, who has a son, Levi, 9, and daughter, Sawyer, 7, from a previous relationship.
