Sausage and Peppers
Happy Ground Hog Day! I don’t care what “Phil” says…I declare an early spring. To celebrate, let’s make some ground hog for dinner!
 
Italian Sausage and Peppers
 
2 lbs. Italian sausage
1 large green pepper, sliced into strips
1 large red pepper, sliced into strips
1 large onion, sliced into half moons
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 can stewed tomatoes
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon lemon pepper
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
 
Sauté sausage, peppers and onion in olive oil until vegetables are tender.
Add remaining ingredients, cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.
If a thicker sauce is desired, combine cornstarch and water and stir into mixture until thickened after dish has cooked 30 minutes. Thin with water if needed.
Serve with your favorite pasta
